Palm OS FAQ
Q1 - What about memory requirements?
A1 - The commercial release 1.2 of the game needs about 4 MB of free RAM before installation. At startup, the game checks for available RAM and only starts if it found at least 1.5MB of free RAM.
Q2 - How to uninstall the game?
A2 - Simply use the Palm uninstallation procedure. Launcher - Delete - Daedalus 3D will eliminate *all* the files from your device.
Q3 - I'm getting some errors after installing the game
A3 - Please perform a soft reset and try again. This free up some memory chunks allocated after the HotSync procedure
Q4 - When starting, I get the error "Error loading d3d_xxx" I reset and tried again, this time getting the same error with d3d_yyy.
A4 - Please check the amount of free memory on your machine. Free up about 1,5 MB or more and restart the game. If the same error repeats, restart the installation procedure from scratch and it will run fine.
Please follow the memory requirements on the user's guide.
Q5 - During the play I'm experiencing a short battery life on my Palm device
A5 - The game is CPU-intensive and uses the full ARM processor power for complex 3D rendering and calculations. Please set the backlight at the lowest comfortable setting: this can considerably reduce the power consumption on some devices.
Q6 - The power button does not seems responding
A6 - During the game, the power button is intentionally locked, so please quit the game tapping on the small icon on the right bottom of the screen to exit to the Startup screen. The game is automatically saved to the last level you've played.
Q7 - The Palm device does not shut off automatically when Daedalus 3D is loaded
A7 - Daedalus 3D, for a greatest efficiency, takes the hardware control of the device preventing that the handheld goes into “sleep” mode during the game activity.
Q8 - What devices are compatible?
A8 - The majority of Palm OS 5.0 or greater devices is compatible. Palm OS 4 or previous are not compatible. For an updated list of all compatible devices, please read here. If you encounter a compatibility problem with your hardware, please write your detailed configuration on the support form
Q9 - What about Sony and other devices Hi-Res+ support?
A9 - The game supports Hi-Res+ 480pixel wide display in landscape mode for devices running natively this display format. The PalmOne Tungsten T3, T5, Sony UX-40, UX-50, TapWave Zodiac and Zodiac2 are fully compatible with the "cinema" mode. For other devices with hardware 320*480 display, actually the game runs in 320*320 mode.
Q10 - Cannot run the game on the Clie' TH55 in landscape mode. Why?
A10 - Unfortunately, the full screen mode is very slow on the TH55. Actually, the screen rotation needs to be implemented via software, and all the graphics screen routines are too slow to run the game smoothly. Native Palm OS screen orientation on the TH series is portrait, and the game runs fine in 320*320 landscape mode (see previous answer for further details)
Q11 - Can I install the full version over the demo version?
A11 - Before installing the full version, you don't need to remove the trial version. The full version will overwrite it, leaving the same settings. Obviously, the saved game will not be restored - you'll restart from scratch with the full version
Q12 - What are the differences between the trial and full versions of the game?
A12 - The demo version is limited to two levels, the full version has a full set of 23 different levels and the ability to load additional maps. Actually, the demo version does not expires anymore.
Q13 - The demo version seems a bit easy
A13 - The demo has only two levels and is pretty much easy to finish on the 'easy' level, but not so easy on the 'hard' one though.
Q14 - Where can be downloaded additional maps?
A14 - The additional maps are available on the download page
Please note that the additional maps are only compatible with the full version of the game.
Q15 - Tell me more about the game performances. Does it use the x-force engine on the Zodiac / Zodiac 2?
A15 - The frame rates on the Zodiac is about 25/fps. The game don't use the x-forge engine, it only use a very advanced full-software engine without hardware acceleration (so the game is fully compatible with other Palm devices). About the same performances - from 20 to 25 fps - are achieved on the PalmOne devices and on the Sony devices (also when running on the slower Sony Handheld Engine CPU).
Q16 - Will it support multiplayer via BlueTooth?
A16 - The multiplayer will be available in the 2.0 release. Sure, the BlueTooth will be fully supported and will be also cross-platform - i.e. you can run multiplayer between different devices (a PalmOne and a Series 60 Nokia SmartPhone, for example).
Q17 - Is there a Zodiac-enhanced version?
A17 - The actual release 1.2 is fully compatible with Zodiac, PalmOne and Sony machines. On the Zodiac, it runs at full 480*320 display resolution.
Q18 - What about your upgrade policy?
A18 - All the minor release upgrades (for example, from version 1.0 to 1.1) will be always free of charge for existing registered users. Major release upgrades (for example, from version 1.5 to 2.0) will be available at a reduced price for registered users of previous release.
Q19 - Are currently supported the Sony Clie' NX, NZ and TG50?
A19 - There is an issue when running the game on the above Sony Clie' devices: it gives the message error Sys 0505 (0, 1122) or similar. Some Sony handhelds (specifically the NR, NX, NZ, and TG
series) are not supported because they use Palm OS 5.0 or 5.1 and lack the
standard audio API. But you can install the MCA drivers to give them a standard
audio API support here: http://www.aibohack.com/clie/modclieaud.htm
Q20 - Why the Garmin iQue series is not supported?
A20 - At the moment, there are a very few percent of that machines between Palm users. To support the iQue, we'll need to add use their SDK into our code, in addition to the other OEM SDK we currently support, growing the program size. Our goal is to leave the core code the most slim possible, to achieve the maximum performances on all devices. If there will be a sufficient number of requests from our users, we may include iQue series support in a future release.

Symbian Series 60 FAQ
Q1 - What about memory requirements?
A1 - The release 1.0 of the game needs about 3 MB of free internal RAM on the phone before installation, and an expansion card with 8 MB or more of free space. This amount of memory card space will be drastically reduced from the release 1.1 and higher to about 4 MB. At startup, the game checks for available RAM and only starts if it found at least 1.5MB of free phone RAM.
Q2 - How to uninstall the game?
A2 - Simply follow the Symbian Series 60 uninstallation procedure. On the Nokia phones, App. Manager - Remove - Daedalus 3D full p1 - p2 - p3 - p4 will eliminate *all* the files from your device. For other devices, please refer to user's manual for uninstallation details.
Q3 - I'm in trouble installing the d3d_full3.sis on my smartphone
A3 - First of all, follow the installation procedure as described in the user's guide, to install the four files separately (full version only). If you cannot install the file d3d_full3.sis please check the amount of internal memory available on your phone: 3 MB or more are necessary when installing the game.
Q4 - I'm getting some errors after installing the game
A4 - Please switch off your phone, restart and try again. This free up some memory chunks allocated after the installation procedure.
Q5 - When starting, I get the error "Error loading d3d_xxx" I reset and tried again, this time getting the same error with d3d_yyy.

Please follow the memory requirements on the user's guide.
Q6 - During the play I'm experiencing a short battery life on my SmartPhone
A6 - The game is CPU-intensive and uses the full processor power for complex 3D rendering and calculations. Please exit from the game when not playing to reduce the power consumption. On the Nokia phones, you can press for 2 seconds the Menu button to select another task form the Task Manager.
Q7 - How to quit the game?
A7 - To quit the game, please select the right selection key (the key above the numeric key “3”) . The game is automatically saved to the last level you've played.
Q8 - The phone does not shut off automatically when Daedalus 3D is running
A8 - Daedalus 3D, for a greatest efficiency, takes the hardware control of the device preventing that the smartphone goes into “sleep” mode during the game activity.
Q9 - What devices are not compatible?
A9 - The majority of Symbian Series 60 devices with a memory card is compatible.
Nokia 7650 is actually unsupported due to lack of memory card support.
Symbian UIQ devices, like Sony Ericsson P800 / P900 / Motorola A920 / A925 / A1000 are *not compatible* at the moment.
Nokia 3650/3660 are not compatible with version 1.2 or higher because the available RAM in main memory (4 MB) is not sufficient for running the full version.
Nokia 6630 works fine, with only some slighty audio effects issues due to digital audio routines. This will solved ASAP.
